Sunset at Katsuren Castle.

Sunset at Katsuren Castle

Beaches by Maeda Point. The beaches are separated by old coral formations that have been over grown with vegetation making many smaller almost exclusive beaches. most of these beaches are rarely visited and you can often end up the only person on the beach.

One of the predominate features (besides scuba diving) at Maeda Point was this rock formation.

Despite the simple beauty of the sunset, waves, and grass, walking across this would be no walk in the park, the stone like projections are jagged coral formations teaming with razor like edges which are extremely difficult to walk on and even more painful to fall on.

While there are many small fresh water streams on Okinawa there are very few water bodies large enough to call a river or lake. This river winding through the northern Okinawa mountains was large enough to fed a hydroelectric dam.

Cliffs, beaches, and coral reefs abound all along the coasts of Okinawa, from here we are looking at Hedo Point, the most northern point of Okinawa.

Tromping around somewhere in northern Okinawa.

I cant really tell you where this is on Okinawa, I was just putsing around and tromping through the jungle with some friends. You cant really tell it here but just a few feet in front of me is a cliff, we couldn't really tell either until we were on top of it. It just sort of of became suddenly visible, or rather the lack of ground to step on became very noticeable.

Base of Hiji Falls in northern Okinawa.

Okinawan drum dancers, wish I could tell you where this was, but I don't remember, somewhere in southern Okinawa.

Outside my barracks during Typhoon Bart.
