There are many rocky outcroppings and cliffs
along the main road leading up Mt. Lemmon.
Found this little scenic out look going down a
dirt road on the backside of Mt Lemmon.
Pine forest on Mt. Lemmon. While I was on Mt. Lemmon it decided that it
wanted to start hailing, it hailed so hard that for a few minutes
until the ice melted it looked like
there was snow on the ground. There are only little patches left
here because it was actually fairly warm.
A very hearty and weathered tree nearing the base
of Mt. Lemmon.
My truck. Despite the oversized tires it is not a
4-wheel drive, nor does it behave like one despite my many off road
attempts to make it do so.
The foothills leading up to Mt. Lemmon via the
dirt road that I traveled down. It was quite fortunate that I was
traveling down the road, as there was no way that my 2-wheal drive
truck could have made it up the road. It was also a good thing that
I had started out with a full tank of gas, because by the time I
found a paved road again I was nearly on empty and very much lost.
Fortunately the paved road had a gas station not so far from where I
got on it and, I was able to get directions as well as gas.
View of the next mountain ridge across the valley
from Mt. Lemmon.
