| Had a Sunday off and decided I would take the
bus to the plantation area being as I didn't have much else to do.
There are several old buildings that are away from the main
plantation and are under the canopie of he coconut trees. these are
the ones I decided I wanted to take pictures of today. They were a
bit more interesting to me than the more typical buildings. Also due
to the lack of sun on them
lichens and
mosses had grown over much of there concrete walls which gave them
rich shades of greens, browns, yellows, and a patchwork of other
colors. The pictures I have below really don't seem to do them
justice as I wisent able to capture the vibrancy of the buildings. I
still think they turned out ok though. One of my coworkers had told
me that there was a nice walk along one of the beaches from one
building to another. I think that they were probably right that it
is a nice walk during low tide, but when the tide comes up on you,
you tend to run out of beach to walk on. so you either walk along in
water waist deep as there is to much vegetation on the beach, or you
have to forge your own trail though the woods. I chose the former
and waded through about a half mile of ocean before I reached an
area where the beach was wide enough to walk on again. The water was
plenty warm though, and it was still rather enjoyable if not
somewhat of a slower of a walk. There is also a wrecked WWII
airplane near the plantation, as in the over two years that I have
been here I hadn't seen it yet I figured it was time I do so. |
