| 22 Oct 04 Well here is my third attempt at night photos. I
got some colored stage gels and used them to make filters for my flash thus
adding a bit of color to my pictures. Unlike my other attempts, there
wasn't much moonlight to speak of so these aren't timed exposures so much as
multiple exposures with the flash. The longest exposure here is of the pavilion
with its light turned on, and it was only a couple of seconds. By enlarge I was
just trying to learn how the film would react to the colored flash and which
filters work well, and how they interact. for instance I wanted some of the
beach pictures to be red on one side, and blue on the other, what I ended up
with was pink all over as in the picture at the bottom of this series, but it did
work well enough if objects in the picture were moved so that only one color
light was reflected in one place such as the blue and red picture of me at the
table. I also learned that red seems to overpower all the other colors when it
is used with them, and comes through very strong when used by itself. |
