Its early morning when I get out today, not
early enough though. There is a tree (the one you see photographed
below) laid over on its side and supported by its branches and roots
on one of the beaches on this island. For a while I have been
wanting to get out and photograph it in the moon light but just
haven’t gotten out to do it. I had found it one day while taking a
rather long walk along the beach and had forgotten just where it was
at and precisely which direction I should walk along the beach. I
knew that if I left from the beach where I lived and headed west I
would come to it, but I couldn’t remember if it were between here
and the place I work (both are on the same side of the island and
therefore sort of on the same beach) or if it were past my
workplace. Figuring that I had time and thinking that I sort of
remembered it being between home and work I set out down the beach
camera and tripod in hand. After walking for what seemed like a
longer distance than I remembered I noticed that it was starting to
get a little light. Oh well I figured the moon is still high its
still fairly dark and the sun is rising on the other side of the
island I should be mostly in the shadow of the island and still get
mostly moon light and just a faint glow of the sky. Well as I
approached my work place it continued to get brighter and still I
hadn’t come across the tree. It was now getting to bright for night
photograph but early morning light can be pretty neat to. the only
problem I had now was that I was using film that was not intended to
be used with sun light and has a distinct bluish cast when used so.
Oh well I have enjoyed the walk and I’m here to take pictures so by
george that’s what I’m going to do. Shortly after I passed my work
place the tree came into view. I figured well now is better than
never so I set up and took some pictures. They aren’t quite night
photographs they, are more of early morning photographs but they
turned out ok. After the sun had risen a little more I began to
notice that there were quite a few flocks of birds flying around and
decided that I needed practice photographing moving objects. Its not
quite as easy as it may seem especially with birds and a zoom
telephoto lens that focuses much more slowly than I would like it
too. Well anyways it was fun and I got a few pictures of birds that
were sort of neat and a ship that had no business being up and awake
at that time in the morning. |
