| As is often around here, with
little to do on my day off I set out with the purpose of mostly just
getting out for a little while. I grabbed my camera and trudged
along the beach until I found something interesting, I grabbed my
camera from its bag took it out and it promptly fogged up, and
so was completely useless. A half hour later it had warmed up enough
that I could see though it again and the camera could focus so I
started taking picture of whatever caught my fancy. Not too much
caught my fancy this day really, until I came upon a standing dead
tree which I took several pictures of. Then later on as I was
walking back I noticed the bark on some trees along the edges of the
beach, these trees live right up onto the very edge of the beach
where the tide reaches them during the high tide and much of their
roots are exposed to the salt water. From this I have to assume that
they are at least somewhat salt tolerant, whatever the case the bark
can be interesting to look at due to its various colors, red
highlights and broad ridges. A little later on I came across another
deceased tree that had been lazing around on the beach long enough
that holes had been worn into it by the waves and sand and so I
spend a bit of time looking for interesting shots of it. Many of the
pictures on this page may not really qualify as great photographs in
and of themselves, but they make interesting textures, like the
background to this page and like the objects that were photographed
they can be quite interesting to look at. Oh and yes those are
conical shells you are seeing in some of the pictures and they do
have crabs living in them. |
